Terms of Use
Last updated May 30, 2026
These terms explain the basic rules for using Afterlife. They are written for anyone using the website or ACI, downloadable archives, and related tools.
Using Afterlife
You may use Afterlife to manage roleplay characters, Discord webhook proxying, RP sessions, public character data, downloadable archives, media, reports, and operational tools for communities that allow it.
You are responsible for how you use your account, what you upload, what you publish, and what you ask the bot to do in Discord.
Accounts and Discord
- You must use a Discord account you are allowed to use.
- You must follow Discord's terms, community rules, and the rules of any Discord server where Afterlife is installed.
- Because Afterlife uses Discord as its authentication solution, members must follow Discord's account, verification, and age requirements, including being old enough to use Discord and completing any verification Discord requires.
- Keep your account secure. Actions taken from your signed-in account may be treated as your actions.
- Server owners and administrators are responsible for bot permissions, channel access, moderation, and server configuration.
Content you add
You keep responsibility for the character data, text, images, files, lore, reports, and RP content you add to Afterlife.
By adding content, you allow Afterlife to store it, display it, proxy it into Discord when requested, generate statistics, create downloadable archives, serve public pages or API responses when public, and make backups or logs needed to operate the system.
Content rules
- Do not upload or share illegal content.
- Do not upload content that exploits, sexualizes, or endangers minors.
- Do not upload non-consensual intimate content, private personal information, malware, stolen credentials, or content intended to harm others.
- Do not use Afterlife to harass, impersonate, threaten, spam, or bypass moderation.
- Do not use webhook proxying to mislead people about who is operating a character or account when that violates server rules.
- Do not publish private RP logs, private character information, or private media unless you have permission from the people involved.
Public pages, API, and exports
Afterlife can create public character pages, ACI responses, avatar routes, roster routes, and downloadable HTML exports. Public means other people may be able to view, save, link, index, or reuse that information.
Use ACI in a reasonable way. Do not overload the service, scrape private areas, bypass access controls, remove attribution from shared content in a misleading way, or use public data to harass people.
Admin and moderation actions
Site administrators and server administrators may restrict access, remove content, archive reports, change roles, update settings, restart services, disconnect bot infrastructure, or remove accounts when needed to run the community and protect the system.
Operational and admin actions may be logged for safety, troubleshooting, and accountability.
Service availability
Afterlife depends on the website host, database, storage, email provider, Discord, and any server panel or process manager used by the installation. Features can be unavailable, delayed, interrupted, or changed by those systems.
Downloads, exports, public links, bot commands, webhooks, and ACI responses may fail if a service is offline, misconfigured, rate limited, or missing required permissions.
No guarantee of data recovery
Afterlife is built to keep useful records, but it is not a guaranteed backup service. Server owners should keep their own backups for important databases, media, exports, and configuration files.
Ending access
You can stop using Afterlife at any time. Site owners and administrators may suspend or remove access when an account, server, or installation breaks these terms, violates community rules, creates risk, or needs to be removed for operational reasons.
Contact
For questions about these terms, contact the site owner or the administrators of the Afterlife installation you use.
