Afterlife

Legal

Our Policies

Last updated May 30, 2026

These rules apply to content uploaded, saved, published, exported, or proxied through Afterlife. That includes character avatars, reference images, lore files, bios, public pages, API data, session exports, report attachments, and Discord bot use.

Core rules

  • Use Afterlife for roleplay content that your community allows.
  • Do not upload illegal content, stolen files, private personal information, malware, credential stealers, tracking payloads, disguised executables, or anything intended to harm another person or system.
  • Only upload the file types accepted by the part of the app you are using, and only upload files in the place they belong.
  • Administrators may remove content, restrict access, disable public links, delete files, or close reports when content breaks these policies or creates risk for the site, the bot, or the community.

Image uploads

  • No images of real people.
  • No images that could reasonably be identified as a real person, including celebrities, public figures, private people, screenshots, edited photos, deepfakes, or AI images made to resemble a real person.
  • No images of human minors in unclothed, sexual, erotic, or exploitative situations.
  • Fictional non-human characters can have younger ages in lore when the image is clearly SFW and not sexualized.
  • No real-world weapon photos, drug imagery, pornography, real nudity, or sexual real-world imagery.
  • Do not upload images that hide malicious code, scripts, tracking payloads, executable content, or unsafe attachments.

NSFW, gore, and violence

Blood, gore, injury, horror, and violent themes are allowed, but they are treated as NSFW content.

NSFW content must be fictional, clearly part of roleplay or character material, and handled with restraint. Explicit pornography, shock content, sexualized minors, coercive sexual content, real nudity, and content posted mainly to provoke people are not allowed.

  • Mark NSFW content as NSFW when the app gives you that option.
  • Do not publish NSFW material through public pages, API data, or exports unless your community rules allow it and everyone involved has permission to share it.
  • Use content warnings for heavy violence, abuse, self-harm, sexual themes, or other material that a reasonable user would need flagged before reading.

Character names, bios, and lore

  • Do not use antisemitic, racist, homophobic, transphobic, sexist, ableist, or otherwise hateful names, bios, jokes, symbols, or caricatures.
  • Bigotry can exist as story conflict only when it is clearly framed as part of the story and is not being used to attack real groups or real users.
  • Do not build characters around overtly offensive stereotypes, slave caricatures, racial jokes, hate propaganda, or real-world extremist material.
  • Do not impersonate real people, other users, server staff, or public figures.
  • Do not write lore or profile content that targets, humiliates, threatens, doxxes, or harasses another person.

Public pages, exports, and API data

  • Public character pages, ACI responses, avatars, and downloadable HTML exports can be viewed, saved, linked, indexed, or reused by other people.
  • Do not publish private RP logs, private character information, private media, or another user's content unless you have permission from the people involved.
  • Check character names, avatars, bios, references, and post history before making anything public or sharing an export.
  • Do not use public Afterlife data to harass, shame, profile, or target users.

Discord and server rules

Afterlife uses Discord for authentication and Discord-connected bot features. Members must follow Discord's rules, age requirements, verification requirements, and the rules of any server where Afterlife is installed.

Reports and enforcement

  • Report content or behavior that breaks these policies through the report tools provided in the app.
  • False reports, revenge reports, report spam, or edited evidence meant to mislead administrators can lead to account restrictions.
  • Serious safety issues may be escalated to the site owner, server staff, hosting provider, Discord, or law enforcement when required.
